As an experienced realtor of 11 yrs. in Florida and California as well as having previously worked as an appraiser for 9 yrs., I have always taken my clients privacy very seriously. I consider myself reasonably well versed in the latest news about industry threats and data security. However I decided to take the ProLearning Cyber Security course as an additional personal development module since I know my client’s proprietary information, which includes their Social security number, financial history, personal address and bank account information etc., could all be compromised if I had a data breech. I am also aware that my Errors and Omissions insurance does not cover me legally if I get sued.
When I started the course I was somewhat skeptical that I would really learn something new given that I do proactively keep up with news on these types of online scams, malware, ransomware etc. However, I was very surprised at just how much information I really had not considered or was aware of. This course is an absolute MUST!
If you work online or use your phone or other media to do your daily business, you will find this course to be an essential to getting the best understanding on how to avoid being scammed or having personal data exposed and accessed by hackers. What became apparent from taking this course is that the level of sophistication that is now being used by Hackers far exceeds the average person’s basic knowledge.
As a realtor I’m online all day and taking emails from prospective clients or referrals from websites. It requires a great deal of extra caution in my industry since we do not want to miss out on opportunities so we are more likely to take risks with what might look like a new client inquiry. There are so many complex schemes emerging every week you simply cannot stay on top of it on your own. All I can say is Take the Course! You’ll walk away a much safer and more informed person for both your clients and your own security.
